Ganesh Puja

Ganesh Puja is a widely celebrated Hindu ritual dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god known as the remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings, wisdom, and prosperity. Ganesh Puja is performed at the start of new ventures, during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, and as part of daily worship routines.

Choosing an Auspicious Time:

  • Consult a priest or Panchang (Hindu calendar) to choose an auspicious date and time for the puja.

Preparation:

  • Clean the space where the puja will be conducted.
  • Set up an altar with an idol or picture of Lord Ganesha.
  • Gather necessary items: flowers, fruits, sweets (modak), incense sticks, ghee lamps, turmeric, kumkum, rice, and a small amount of sacred water (Gangajal).

Kalash Sthapana (Installation of the Sacred Pot):

  • Place a Kalash (a pot filled with water, mango leaves, and a coconut) on the altar. This represents purity and auspiciousness.

Invocation and Sankalpa (Intention):

  • Begin by invoking Lord Ganesha to remove obstacles.
  • Perform a sankalpa (intention) by stating the purpose of the puja.
